Eagles Fly Alone

“Eagles Fly Alone”

Effortless wings holding warm air
as earthly bounty passes my stare
Gathered horizons the world sighs
Longings for companions to fill my eyes
Eternity of peace to feed my sense
soaring with dreams of freedom intense.

Fearing the setting of the sun
lonely times when the only one
yet seek another in times to come

Are there more things than this
Loneliness is it a kind of bliss
or am I missing the whole point
No one needs to be as lonely as I
Eagle that continues to search the sky

Cold winds chill my breast (Acrostic)

Crinkle patterns on window panes seen
our grass is no longer green
Long gone are sun filled days
Dappled skies with morning haze.

Whippoorwill’s song now in memory store
Indications that you must not walk far
Natures seasons on the change again.
Distant mountains and clouds the same
Salted roads and iced puddles seen

Chopped wood and kindling piled high,
Hearth rugs placed to snuggle down
I stock up food from the local town
Larder full of summer’s wealth
Lamps and candles on the shelf

My toes soon tell me, hurry home
Yellow gold leaves rustle around

Berries cling to nude boughs
Ravens pantry after flesh defiled
Evenings light growing ever shorter
as the winters grasp returns.
Sleet so wet before snow storms come
Thunder caps recede till spring’s sun.

Metro phobia & Triskaidekaphobia

Metro What ???

Muses that torture my brain
Epics that test my endurance
Themes that trouble my memory
Rhyme that makes me sing
Oration changed into verse
Poetic nightmares stream
Haiku’s that sing of winter
Overriding fear of form
Books of useless words
Incomplete sentences
Alarm at talking in riddles

Triskaidekaphobia

Twelve plus one I dare not say.
Rhetoric of omens thrown in my way
Insidious numbers that bring me harm
Sliding around ladders another charm
Kinfolk long lost on this numbers day
Abide in my home, going out, no way
Intolerable omens that cross my path
Doctor death has stalked me too long
Even numbers are much more strong
Kinky people share these views
A day of lost work, national news
People cowering way out of sight
Hoping to make it through the night
Oh help me in this hour of need
Beware, stay in, not to venture out
Incarcerated by my own lack of clout
At last a new day dawns

Eagles

Effortless wings hold warm air
As earthly bounty passes my eyes
Gathered horizons in worldly view
Longings of companions so few
Eternity of peace to feed my senses
Soaring with the dreams of freedom

Fearing the setting of the sun
Lonely times when the only one
Yet seek another in times to come

Are there more things than this
Lonileness is it a kind of bliss
Or am I missing the whole point
No one needs to be as lonely as I
Eagle that seems to search the sky

September

September

Still air warm from summer’s suns

Evenings closing in, to autumns cool

Plants seeding for their future days

Tendrils reaching out with brown arms

Energy held captive within sunflower heads

Migrating birds fly away to find new food

Blossoms long forgotten to new fruits glow

Evolving creatures sing of summers lament

Renewed year fading into a sweet memory

Sweet Sugar

Softly crumbled sweetness
Weak tea made into a dream
Energy that is always on tap
Excited topped up children
Taste taken to a dream haven

Saturated danger levels
Unstoppable thought of sleep
Giddy days lost to memory’s demise
Arousal of all sweat glands
Realise! or the reaper comes
